JOE COLWELL
ABOUT JOE COLWELL
Joe Colwell is a Singer-Songwriter and Guitarist raised in Montclair, NJ. Influenced by artists like George Michael, Bruce Springsteen, Jason Isbell, Marcus King, Oasis, Sam Fender, John Mayer, Marvin Gaye, Mac Miller, and Elvis Presley, Joe brings a unique edge to his original music– his sound infused with elements of Country, Folk, Rock, Soul, and Americana music.
Growing up with English parents, Joe had his first performance at a school talent show at age 11, playing “Skyfall” from the Soundtrack of the James Bond Film. However his true love for music came when he fell in love with the guitar that same year.
Joe began to play more seriously at the age of 15, when he played every weekend outside at bars, inns, restaurants, and beer gardens. It was here where he found his love for performance– a love that he carried with him at notable venues like the Wellmont Theater with Brian Kirk and the Jirks, the Bitter End in NYC, the Outlaw Music Festival on the Horizon Stage at Bethel Woods, Summerfest in Milwaukee Wisconsin, and the main stage at Montclair Pride in 2023, and 2024.
An advocate for the community, Joe has worked with MFEE, and Entrenadores Escolares, a mentoring and tutoring group for children of immigrants, helping students to assimilate to a new country and environment.
Joe is currently majoring in Media Scoring and Production at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, where he plays original music with a band, San Amaro, and has been able to study with Delta Rae guitarist, singer, and songwriter Ian Holljes, Latin Grammy nominated Roxana Amed, Songwriter Craig Carothers, and Stephen Gleason.
